Slow Looking focuses on slowing your eyes down to uncover patterns and lines of rhythm hidden in small movements and structures. I have used techniques such as Chronophotography and sequenced with typologies to narrow in on the small, unnoticed motions that the concious eye can’t see so the audience can analyse each detail finding buried lines of rhythm.
The subjects I have observed in this project have varied, I mainly used what we see everyday but barely notice. This included birds, clouds, shadows, reflections, and textures from the envrionement. For the finalisation of this project I have created a book that represents an archive of evidence images, it’s not meant to be a regular photobook as it’s quite long and I have written a loose guide of how to slow look. This term of slow looking is one I created as a new way of reading images and books which makes the final book more of an experimental art piece.
